AC Maintenance and Tune Ups in Las Vegas, NV
Most of the emergency calls we take in July trace back to something that was visible in April. A weak capacitor, a coil packed with dust, a condensate drain starting to plug. None of those are dramatic on their own, and all of them are cheaper to handle before the system fails.
Rocket Air Conditioning provides residential AC maintenance across Las Vegas. The point of a tune up is not a sticker on the unit. It is measuring how the system is actually performing and correcting what has drifted.

Signs your system is overdue for maintenance
It has been more than a year since anyone opened the unit
Desert dust accumulates fast. A condenser coil that has gone two or three summers without cleaning is costing you capacity right now.
Longer run times than last summer
If the system runs noticeably more to hold the same temperature, something has changed. Maintenance finds it.
Rising power bills without a change in habits
Dirty coils, low charge and restricted airflow all show up on the bill before they show up as a breakdown.
Dust around the vents or a filter that loads up quickly
That usually points at duct leakage pulling attic air, which also drags down efficiency.
Water in the drain pan or a musty smell at startup
The condensate system needs attention before it backs up into the ceiling.
What is included in a tune up
This is the work, not a list of things we look at from across the room.
- Clean the outdoor condenser coil and clear debris from the cabinet
- Inspect and clean the evaporator coil and blower as access allows
- Replace or check the filter and confirm the return is not starved for air
- Test capacitors and contactors and check for pitting or heat damage
- Tighten and inspect electrical connections, measure motor amp draw
- Verify refrigerant charge using superheat and subcooling, not guesswork
- Measure the temperature split across the coil to confirm capacity
- Flush the condensate drain and test the safety switch
- Check thermostat calibration, staging and programmed schedule
- Report anything wearing out so you can plan the repair instead of reacting to it
When to schedule it
Spring, before the first real heat, is the ideal time for cooling maintenance. Everything is available, nothing is urgent, and any part that needs replacing can be handled on your schedule.
If you heat with a furnace or heat pump, a fall visit for the heating side is worth doing as well. Two visits a year is the standard recommendation for equipment that works as hard as it does here.
Maintenance does not make a failing system healthy. If we find a component at the end of its life, we will tell you plainly rather than cleaning around it.
Problems we solve most often
Dirty condenser coils
Dust on the coil traps heat, raises pressures and shortens compressor life. Cleaning it restores capacity you already paid for.
Weak capacitors and worn contactors
These are inexpensive parts that fail under sustained load and take the compressor offline on the hottest day. We test them instead of waiting.
Plugged condensate drains
A drain that backs up can shut the system down or damage the ceiling. Flushing it is a five minute job during maintenance.
Why maintenance matters more in Las Vegas
In a mild climate a skipped tune up is a minor risk. Here, the same system runs at or near full load for a third of the year, in dusty air, with rooftop and side yard equipment sitting in direct sun. Wear that would take five years elsewhere happens much faster.
We maintain residential systems throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and North Las Vegas.
