Furnace and Heating Repair in Las Vegas, NV

Las Vegas heating seasons are short, which is exactly why furnace problems catch people off guard. The system sits unused for most of the year, then gets asked to run on the first cold night in November and does not start.

Takes less than 60 seconds. No payment required. Local licensed technicians, Nevada C-21 #0091567. We'll confirm your appointment by phone.

Furnace and Heating Repair in Las Vegas, NV by Rocket Air Conditioning

Heating symptoms worth a service call

The furnace runs but the air is cold

Often a flame sensor, an ignition fault, or a system that is locking out on a safety before it can produce heat.

It starts, then shuts off after a couple of minutes

Short cycling on heat usually means a limit switch is tripping, commonly from restricted airflow or a dirty filter.

Burning smell that does not go away

Dust burning off during the first run of the season is normal for a few minutes. A smell that persists is not, and it should be checked.

Booming or banging at ignition

Delayed ignition can be caused by dirty burners. It is worth addressing rather than living with.

The blower runs constantly

A stuck fan relay, a control board fault or a thermostat setting. Easy to diagnose, and worth doing before it wears out the motor.

Carbon monoxide detector activity

Leave the home and call the fire department first, then call us. Do not run the furnace until a technician has inspected it.

What we check on a heating call

  • Thermostat operation and correct call for heat at the equipment
  • Filter and return airflow, the most common cause of limit trips
  • Ignition system, igniter, flame sensor and burner condition
  • Gas valve operation and gas pressure where applicable
  • Heat exchanger inspection for visible cracks or damage
  • Blower motor operation, amp draw and wheel condition
  • Limit switches, pressure switch and safety controls
  • Flue and venting for obstruction or improper draft
  • Control board, sequencers and staging on electric heat

Heating repair versus replacement

Most heating failures here are inexpensive parts. Igniters, flame sensors, pressure switches, capacitors and control components are all routine repairs.

Replacement becomes the honest recommendation when a heat exchanger has failed, when the system is old enough that safety controls and parts are no longer practical to source, or when the furnace has developed multiple problems in the same season.

Because our heating season is short, many Las Vegas homeowners replace the furnace as part of a full system changeout when the air conditioner needs replacing. See our furnace installation and replacement page for that side of it.

Problems we solve most often

Furnace blowing cold air

Ignition faults, flame sensor problems, thermostat issues or a safety lockout. We identify which one and repair it.

Heating that shuts off too soon

Short cycling on the heat side is usually an airflow restriction tripping a limit switch. We find the restriction.

Noisy heating operation

Banging at ignition, rattling panels and screeching blower motors all have specific causes worth correcting.

Heating in a cooling dominated climate

Furnaces in Las Vegas homes accumulate very few run hours compared to the air conditioning side, which sounds like good news and often is. The catch is that equipment sitting idle for eight or nine months collects dust, and rodents and debris find their way into places they should not.

That is why a fall heating check is worth doing even when the furnace worked fine last winter. We service heating systems throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and North Las Vegas.

Frequently asked questions

Dust settles on the heat exchanger over the long off season and burns off during the first few cycles. A short lived smell is expected. A strong or persistent burning smell is not, and you should shut the system down and call.
